A Lamb And A Bear

Here is what I have been working on the past couple of weeks. The little lamby guy was knitted for the Falconer Yarn Loft in the wool that was given to me by the owner. I used Fuzzy Mittens pattern and changed up the Fuzzy Mitten cardigan pattern to look a little more boy like. He is very cute and just loves to hang out with his bear friends.

Here is the little lamby with is butt shot. You can see his wee tail poking out the bottom of his cardigan.

This bear is also for the Falconer Yarn Loft. Her name is Heidi and her pattern came from the book called The Knitted Teddy Bear. This is the trickiest knitted toy pattern I have done so far. She turned out better than I hoped she would especially with all the freaking out I was doing during the seaming up part where everything can go horribly wrong hehe. The biggest thing I would like to be better at is the noses.

Here is Heidi's butt shot. She is very modest with her little pink dress on. These guys were delivered on Saturday and were much loved. Now if only one of them would sell, that would be even greater hehe.

Here is a photo of me and my Meggy taken a couple of weeks ago. Arent we cute together? Its kind of rare for us to have our photo taken together because we both hate our pictures being taken but this one turned out pretty well so Im willing to share it hehe.

If you've been checking Knitted For Ewe for items up for sale then I apologize for the wait. I want to make sure I have everything together before listing everything such as business cards and tags and such. We are getting the girls stuff ready for school next week so I just have to wait a little longer to get all that organized. In the mean time I have been working on a new bag this week. Its a kind of seafoam green and its a little different from what I normally do. It has tree and leaf shapes knitted into it. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it felts up the way that I want it too. I just have one side and the bottom to knit, it will need seaming up and then off to be felted it goes. I am using wool from a jumper that I unravelled quite a while ago. I think I may even have enough to make a second bag with this wool so it was worth all that unravelling. Its a very nice colour. The lime green bag is just waiting for me to do the lining and its ready to go. It will be a miracle to have a bag that is fully finished with designs and everything. I will definitely have to post pictures of that one.

I mentioned the girls going back to school next week briefly before but its so exciting I need to mention it again. The last two weeks of summer holidays they get bored and when they get bored they like to argue for no reason more than usual. The peace and quiet will be golden. After the first week back Victoria will be on full days at Kindergarten. I say now that the silence will be nice Im starting to think Im going to miss having that crazy girl around so much. I hope she adjusts to being away from home so much.

Last week Megan tried out for her schools Junior Varsity Girls Soccer team. After going all week to tryouts at 8am she found out on Friday that she made the team. This is exciting because she is not even in 9th grade yet and she made the team. Now she has 8am to 10am practices every weekday until school starts. Sounds like fun doesnt it. I have no idea how the schedule will work once school starts. Hopefully not too bad. She's just excited about being chosen.

A Bear And A Shop Announcement

Ive been busy knitting toys for the Falconer Yarn Loft this week. Here is the little bear that I just finished a couple of days ago. Victoria just loves her so she must be alright hehe. She has asked if I could make her one as well. I always have a tricky time with the noses on bears. I dont know why. I decided to embroider some little flowers on her cardigan to make her even girlier. I used some antique silk thread that I bought at Samaritan House and have been dying to use. There are a whole bunch of reels of antique thread in the bundle. When I use it, it makes me wonder what other things this thread was used for all those years ago.

Here is her modest butt shot.

This shows you how little she is. What a sweet little girl she is too.

I am currently working on a lamb to go with her. He is just about done. He is just waiting for his jacket to be sewn up and blocked and he will be ready to go. While getting these guys done I realized that I had knit up all the parts to a bear months and months ago and never sewed it together. All that needed to be done is block the pieces. The pieces have been blocked and are now waiting to be sewn together. When I did this pattern I was really nervous about stitching it together but after doing these other guys I feel a little more confident about it.

In the mail today I received my much awaited buttons that I purchased on Etsy last week. I bought them from Gina M Studio and they are even better in person than I thought they would be. I actually only bought the light blue one but she threw in the sea green one as an extra surprise. Yay for me! They are handmade ceramic buttons. They feel so nice to touch as well. It will go perfectly on my green felted bag. Now I feel like I can sit down and finish it. Oh My God, a finished bag hehe. The lady that made these has informed me that she wont be listing any more on Etsy as they take a long time to make. This makes me sad because getting these today makes me want more of them.

On the home front the girls finished soccer last week. On Saturday we went to the picnic and they got their awards. They were very excited about this part especially Megan. Her team came first in their division and she was one of the best player on her team. In about a week she is going to try out for the Junior Varsity team. I hope she gets in because she really wants to be on the team. She is at a disadvantage of being one of the youngest to try out but she is pretty good player so fingers crossed.

Here is Megan with her very shiny trophy.

Here is Victoria with her medal. She is very happy that it has her name on it.

Now for the shop announcement that you read about in the title of this post. I have finally picked a name for my shop. It was very difficult but I am happy with the name. I figured it out myself and other people have told me they like it. My new shop is called.......
Knitted For Ewe
Handmade Cozy Treasures
A big thank you to everyone who gave suggestions, advice and opinions. It really did help alot. I signed up on Etsy the other day and now my little shop is just waiting to get all the trimmings and some goodies in it. I will keep you posted when there is more to look at.

Having A Dilemma

All week I have been racking my brain and driving all those around me crazy trying to think of a business name for my Etsy store. I have found once you start asking people their ideas they cant stop thinking about what a good name would be. Its contagious.

These are the three that are roaming around my head at the moment
Nicole's Knitted Treasures
Knitting On Maple St
Nix Knits (My husband suggested this and swears by it hehe)

The children have suggested some names as well. Megan says The Knitters Knittings and Victoria suggests Mommy The Great Knitter hehe.

Does anyone have a preference or can you think of a better one?
I would love to have this figured out because I have to send my information to the wonderful McPrincessMaree on Etsy who is designing all my stuff for me. It seems so silly to be stuck on something as simple as a name.

So if you have an opinion I would love to hear it.

Getting Some Painting Done

You read correctly. I finally picked up the paint brush and have been painting. I am the queen of procrastinating when it comes to painting. I want it done but getting started is another thing. This week I got all the painting finished in Victoria's room. I still cant believe a whole room is done. I have been doing trim work in parts of Megan's room that still feels like it never ends. I started a bit of trim work in the dining/whatever room only because its right next to where I was working on Megan's stuff and I just kept going. Lets hope I can keep it up because the cold weather will be here soon and I will be so mad at myself if I get nothing done.

I have been knitting a teddy bear this week with the yarn that I got from the Falconer Yarn Loft. I have been feeling guilty that I havent given her anything made out of her yarn yet. He is coming along quite quickly. I just have to find the time to work on it. I cannot believe how busy this summer has been.

Megan is off to girl scout camp today until Sunday which means she misses her soccer game today. We are also off to the Fair tomorrow and using Megan's ticket to bring Victoria's friend along. It should be fun. We had Summer Reading this morning. I still cant believe how crazy our group is. We have about 20 kids aged between 3 and 5 in our group plus the parents in a little room. Its very interesting trying to keep them occupied but we are surviving and they seem to be having fun.

I guess I have to end this post because I keep getting distracted by a Miss Victoria and forgot what my thought is. I also have to make sure everything is ready for Megan's camping trip.

Getting Ready For Etsy

I finally bought my notebook to organize all my Etsy store thoughts and write down everything to do with my store. Isnt it just so cute hehe. I have figured out my store name and tagline and found a wonderful lady on Etsy who is going to design my banners and business cards. I still have some stuff to figure out but its coming together slowly but surely.

Here is the cotton monkey that I just finished for my friends order. I wanted to get it done early so I know they are ready for her when she wants them. She chose the yarn and colour combinations. I think he is quite funky. He will be going to a little boy who loves monkeys. I think he will like this one because the cotton makes him sooo soft. My only issue with how this guy turned out is his tummy is slightly overstuffed. I will have to watch that next time.

Here is his butt shot. I cant believe how curly his tail came out. It looks like a piggy tail.

I also finally sat down and added the dragon's tongue to the pyjama bag. It came out better than I thought it would because we bought this ribbon that is for scrapbooking. I didnt realize at the time that it was self adhesive, this meant that I could fold it over so it is smooth on both side. It also means that it wont fray at the ends. I will have to remember this stuff for next time.

We have been super busy this past week with soccer. Some brilliant person decided that to make up for the game they missed near the 4th of July that they would play 3 games in a row this week. By yesterday the kiddies were very tired. Its a long evening when they play and we dont get home until 9.30pm. Thankfully we survived that and they now dont have to play until Tuesday. Megan is doing so well in soccer. Last night she made 4 goals and did a brilliant drop kick being goalie. She is very passionate about soccer. Victoria on the other hand is hard to watch hehe. She has no interest in kicking the ball. She just likes the running so she just runs with the pack and whenever the ball is at her feet she either just stares at it or walks away. She does like to be goalie and is pretty good at it so I guess thats something.

Tomorrow is the village wide yard sale. Its always fun to walk around and look at all the stuff and pick up some bargains. Victoria loves it because she got lots of toys last year. Fingers crossed it doesnt rain.

Soccer & A Turtle

The girls had their first soccer games last week and did really well. Here are some of the pictures that I took of their games. Today we had to go out and get Megan some new shin guards and some soccer cleats because it turned out these shin guards are too small and the sneakers we got for her to wear for gym and basketball not so good for soccer hehe. Now she is all decked out in Adidas soccer gear. Im sure she cant wait to play now.

Doesnt Victoria look so cute in her little soccer gear. Apparently her soccer cleats make her gallop and jump alot which is what she did alot of the time during her game. Oh and they must make her chat non stop to her friend Ashleigh too hehe. Hopefully it wont rain tomorrow and they will get to play again.

Here is the little turtle that I made last week. Actually this is the second turtle I made because after showing Megan's turtle to one of the librarians I had to make her one. She is a big fan of them too and wears a turtle necklace all the time. This is the twin of Megan's turtle. Victoria has asked if I can make her one in Spiderman colours.

I am currently working on another toy from the order of three that my friend placed last month. They arent due until about October but I thought I would get them done now seeing how I had the yarn all ready to go. This time a I am knitting a monkey out of cotton. He is navy blue as the main colour and lime green as the contrasting colour. Its always interesting when you do custom orders because people put ideas together that you might never try and alot of the time they turn out really cool. This little guy is almost done. I think he needs a head and some ears and then he needs to be all sewn up.

This weekend was the 4th of July. We have never ever done anything for the 4th of July before so this year we decided to go to this place called Midway. Its an amusement park. Its apparently the oldest amusement park still running in the state. It has lots of rides for little kids like Victoria and stuff for big kids like Megan. We had a really good day. Megan ended up seeing two of her really good friends and spent half the day riding rides with them. One of them has a little sister who is friends with Victoria so that worked out well. We even ended up taking one of Megan's friends home to stay the night. At the end of the day they had this big fireworks display which was really cool. We all ended up having a really good day and I think it needs to become a 4th of July tradition.

This weekend we are off to another amusement park called Waldameer. We are going to Joe's summer work picnic which means lots of free food and lots of rides and fun to have. The girls got new swimming costumes to wear to go in the water park. Joe and I have to get some this Friday which I am dreading. I have always hated swimsuit shopping. Megan is bringing a friend with her so she can go ride crazy. It should be a fun day, fingers crossed it wont rain.
