We have been giving our house a much needed clean out in the past month. My girls have decided that they want to switch bedrooms so they had to clean out their rooms if they wanted to make the big switch. Megan to the small room downstairs and Victoria to the big loft room upstairs.
In our cleaning out of things we have been strolling down memory lane as you do when you start going through things that have been buried in boxes for a long time.
We found a letter that Megan made for Santa when she was 8 that was still sealed so of course we had to open it. Oh and what giggles we had.
I am going to share it with you with all her spelling glory with it hehe.
Dear Santa Claus,
Joe is already puting up the tree. I turned eight this year. The most thing I
want for Christmas is rolling runners. These are the other thing I want a life
size choclate moose and a city of all sorts of Barbie dolls and last but not least
a flying unicorn any age.
I Love You Very Much
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
You'rs truly,
Megan Brown
p.s. Nail polish and Nail Polish remover and clothes
I am definitely saving this letter hehe. I dont remember what she got that year for Christmas but I dont think she got most of it. My Megan is turning 18 next month and the funny thing is she would probably still want the life size chocolate mousse, whatever that is hehe as long as its something chocolate and the nail polish and clothes are still being asked for. So even though your kids grow and change they are still pretty much the same.
I hope you had a little giggle with this post. I think my favourite part is the flying unicorn any age hehehehehehe.
I will be sharing all my knitting projects that are finished and in process. I love getting feedback for my work. I hope to be able to connect with other knitters because they are a great bunch of people. There will be the odd story about life with my family and all the fun household adventures we have.

New York Buddies
I just sent off a new batch of toys to Stoopher & Boots in New York city. I usually like to send at least 7 things at a time but I have been working on socks, socks, socks that I havent had time to do too many toys. This is quite the crew isnt it.
I knitted this bunny once before in a chenille yarn that made him look like a velveteen rabbit. This bunny was knitted from a yarn called Bunny Soft. How could you not knit a bunny out of it? Victoria picked the colours. Of course she would pick blue as she is in love with blue. This yarn is so soft. My girls couldnt stop hugging him when he was all finished. I found out that once he arrived in New York yesterday and friend of Stoopher & Boots had to blog about him so now he is famous. Here is a link to the article which is so cute.
http://stickyegg.com/2012/06/11/tall-tail/
Look at that poofy tail, so soft and fluffy like a real bunny. For the lining of the ears I used felt. The last one of these bunnies I used fabric. I think I much prefer the fabric as even those the ears in this picture are tamed and down once you start playing with him they tend to fold back and make him look as if he was stuck in a wind tunnel. Still cute but a little too stiff for my liking. Oh and this pattern was designed by one of my new favourite designers, Rabbit Hole Knits. I just love every one of her patterns.
This bunny is another Rabbit Hole Knits designs. The amazing thing about this pattern is that this is pretty much all one piece. You just add the ears and the front paws. For this bunny I got a smooth yarn and a fluffy super soft yarn and held it together throughout. When I picked a needle size I went really small so this is a very strong, stable fabric. What is even better is the eyes are embroidered on so that he is safe for everyone. A funny story about this bunny is, the little 2 year old girl that I babysit wanted to hold him and when I gave him to her she was holding him like a real bunny. She put him on the ground and was waiting for him to start hopping. She very much thought he was real.
Dont you just love his little tail. I just love how he is knit all in one including his little tail.
Here is another super cute monster designed by Danger Crafts another favourite designer. I have knit this monster before in pink. Its funny how these little critters can look so different just by changing the yarn. This one was made in a colourful baby yarn which makes him super soft. It was interesting to see how the striping changed once I got to the body.
Last but not least is this little dinosaur. You dont really see to many pink dinosaurs around but I knew I just had to make one after Victoria and I read a super cute story that had this pink dinosaur all through it. He also has embroidered eyes which makes him safer and is just the right size for little hands. You never know, there could have been real pink dinosaurs.

Prom 2012
My Megan just had her prom on Saturday so I just had to show off the prettiness of it all.
Megan and her friend Ali decided to ask a boy that was a friend of theirs if he would be their date. So he was a lucky guy with two dates to the prom. He didnt care what he wore so the girls delighted in being able to pick out his outfit. They were quite proud of the results.
Here is my Meggy all pretty and stuff.
I wish I could have got her shoes in one of these pictures. They were hot pink patent leather shoes with 4 1/2 inch heels. She was enjoying towering over me.
If only she would have let me take a picture of what she looked like the next day when she same home. It would have been priceless hehe. Lets just say the hair wasnt so pretty, the makeup was smudgy, some being used as a strange headband and a giant fake Michael Jackson tattoo on her leg.
Here are the girls all together. What angels hehe.
Megan loves this picture. It just captures their personalities so well I think hehe.

Sparkle Horse
I just listed this Sparkly Horse in my Etsy shop today. This horse reminds me of my Megan when she was little. Its pink, its sparkly, its a horse. All things that would have made her want to snatch it up and call it hers.
I just know there are other little girls out there that are just like my Megan who would love a sparkly little horse.
I contemplated turning her into a little unicorn but she was happy just how she is.
When deciding on the eyes I remembered when I was little and use to colour in all the eyes blue. I even went through a whole colouring book just colouring all the eyes in blue in every picture. I dont know what the fascination was but felt like this little horse needed blue eyes just like the old days.

Candy The Monster
My poor little neglected blog. I feel so bad that I dont write here more. I have been knee deep in knitting Bobby's Socks the past couple of months. I am up to pair number 7 and still have another pair that have to get done. I dont know if there will be more straight after that but I could probably knit socks in my sleep by now.
I did manage to stop for a minute to finish of this little monster who was just begging to be finished off so it could find its forever home.
So here is Candy The Monster. She's just a little girl at 5 1/2 inches but she's big on personality. As you can see from her pictures she just loves candy. I think she is attracted to it because they are coloured just like her and have share the same name.
She proudly stands here with a lollipop.
Just because she loves candy doesnt mean she's not willing to share and she would never steal anyone elses.

Bobby's Socks
I'd like to tell you about an exciting new project that I have been working on for the last few months. I was approached a few months ago about knitting some crazy coloured socks for a new book that is coming out called Bobby's Socks by Nathaniel Sewell. The book is about a man's struggle to deal with sexual abuse he experienced as a child. It is based on a true story. In this story he speaks of wearing colourful socks that make you happy and he likes to draw these happy hearts. Once you read the book you really want a pair of your own Bobby's Socks. So there are a bunch of us Etsy knitters that are making Bobby's Socks with Happy Hearts so that once you have read this book you can own your very own. Everyone who is making these socks will be donating a portion from the sale to Bobby's Socks Foundation. I will be donating $10 for every pair of Bobby's Socks that I sell.
Each knitter who is participating is creating their own version of colourful Bobby's Socks. This is my version. I will be making pairs in different colour combinations. This is just my first colour combination to get started. They are made using a washable wool which makes the warm and convenient. Machine washable and socks are essential to me when making knitted socks.

New York Gang Part 2
I just love how this doll turned out. I like to call her Jemima as she looks like a doll with that name from a tv show call Playschool that used to watch when I was little. I wish I had of had more time to take more detailed pictures of her. She is made all out of soft wool except for her dress which is super soft alpaca yarn. You cant see this in the photo but she even has on underwear. You can take the underwear and dress off easily so she is fun to dress up. The hair took so long to get it the way I wanted it. To make it wavy I cut the strips of yarn and pulled apart the fibers which come apart wavy from being twisted. I hope Jemima goes to a home where she is loved.
This poor little owl sat around for a long time waiting to be finished. I dont know why I kept putting it off but I am glad that he was finished in the end. He is half filled with plastic pellets which makes him just right to sit on your shelf and keep and eye on things.
This bunny was actually suppose to be a bear but when it came time to do the ears I ended up just making them really long and turning it into a bunny. I love the blue colour of this yarn especially with the hot pink.
Now this was my favourite toy that I sent off. We had to give him a hug before he went in the box. He reminds me of the velveteen rabbit. I knitted him in a chenille yarn with small needles to give him that velvet look and feel. Ah more uses for that big stack of chenille yarn my husband bought for me.
I lined his ears with some yellow fabric that was left over from the quilt I made my daughter for Christmas. Dont you just love how you can pose his ears in all different ways. I love the vintage look of this bunny. He looks like he has been around for a long time.
I am definitely going to make another one of these rabbits. I have the yarn all picked out and everything. Funnily enough the yarn I am going to use is called Bunny Soft and it feels just like your patting a real bunny. I cant wait to get started on that one.
New York Gang Part 1
In November I sent off some toys to Stoopher and Boots in New York city, the very cool shop that sells my knitted toys. I managed to take some quick pictures of them before they got packed up in the box to go on their journey.
This snake was alot of fun to make. He is made with a soft cotton yarn. I dont usually like knitting stripes because of all the ends but with this being knitted in the round there were no ends to weave in. He ended up being really long and great to put on your shoulders. Victoria was always checking up on his progress and how long he was getting.
Victoria fell in love with this little lizard but he really wanted to go to New York and see the sights. This was my first time using Noro yarn and I loved watching the colours come together. I love this guys little toes.
This little pig was made using the very last of some handspun hand dyed pink yarn that I got from a fellow Etsy seller. I love this pattern and have been thinking about making more tiny pigs as they are really quick and oh so cute. This pattern was designed by Apocalypse Knits.
Here is another Maddox Monster. Its funny how just by using a different yarn it brings out a different personality with these monsters. I love this yarn with its shades of yellow. Every time I see this monster it reminds me of my sister as i was finishing him off while Skyping for the first time with her.
I am posting Part 2 of the NY gang so you can see the rest of the guys who left for NY.

Its A Horsey!!
I just listed this cute brown horse to my Etsy shop. The first new listing of 2012. I love how this horse turned out and he didnt take long to make. He was knitted with 100% wool as well as his mane and tail. He was stuffed with this new kind of stuffing that is 50% bamboo and 50% polyester fiberfill. It is great when you want something to be sturdy and solid which is what you want a horse to be.
I imagine some little girl or boy galloping him around all over the place or having different toys ride on him. In fact the two little girls that I babysit have already discovered him and asked if he was for them. So I know that someone else will have to fall in love with him. He has the two year old seal of approval hehe.
Oh there's the butt shot. You cant not have the butt shot hehe.
