<br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I always like to help out with our local library's Summer Reading program. For the past 7 years I have been a partner leading the 3 - PreK group but this year taking a break from that I became the assistant coordinator. It was so much fun to be working in the background of it all, organizing and keeping things running smoothly. Who knew I would enjoy all that? </span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Our theme this year was Science and deciding the prizes for the top readers this year I volunteered to make some knitted rewards. I made two rockets and two robots.</span></span> <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg8dIG_6mgcRBfXPMhJpFx-oRn2JDnk5S9B8KKMsVVMEfFO9847Dbe-l3l0XrjFcINdeTo3H24J5ILSZiDDQFPefOS9U10XwGzWloTpegpLaG9PK679Rfi_YTLcNFTzZgC6edgw7AAYfbP/s1600/library2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg8dIG_6mgcRBfXPMhJpFx-oRn2JDnk5S9B8KKMsVVMEfFO9847Dbe-l3l0XrjFcINdeTo3H24J5ILSZiDDQFPefOS9U10XwGzWloTpegpLaG9PK679Rfi_YTLcNFTzZgC6edgw7AAYfbP/s1600/library2.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The rockets went to the 3 - PreK and the K - 1 group and the robots went to the 2 - 3 and 4 - 6 group. </span></span> <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-xHnjfvzTXZWo_8lXKVTWXbOFxD65gSwSorR5dS6OYbH-jZyhJK6z2ilOYfg8uo_l-XCcFhkc5-JgglW3i3GFEqmkd6ddwqgJy0cfiItzwbrd9NiYcp3iHQRumQ4_fQ2MgBVAFV2oW_k0/s1600/library3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-xHnjfvzTXZWo_8lXKVTWXbOFxD65gSwSorR5dS6OYbH-jZyhJK6z2ilOYfg8uo_l-XCcFhkc5-JgglW3i3GFEqmkd6ddwqgJy0cfiItzwbrd9NiYcp3iHQRumQ4_fQ2MgBVAFV2oW_k0/s1600/library3.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I had alot of fun setting up this display ready for Summer Reading and for some reason its always so cool to me to see multiples of knitted toys together especially when they are the same in different colours. I think its because even though its the same thing they each take on a different personality depending on the colours and details you add. </span></span> <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwNdojgv_3ulCnCAkkEHoTcUxFTmhnBiiPU14wts_poFy2PXXnRikqNnErxQthi3p-sWqrPxv-EGtYBUlYfcOrlmTsTMZpZ8LsHwEkl9iXfguOCnJgRQGAWh7vdadjFTOYuDgcfHSVlsMa/s1600/library4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwNdojgv_3ulCnCAkkEHoTcUxFTmhnBiiPU14wts_poFy2PXXnRikqNnErxQthi3p-sWqrPxv-EGtYBUlYfcOrlmTsTMZpZ8LsHwEkl9iXfguOCnJgRQGAWh7vdadjFTOYuDgcfHSVlsMa/s1600/library4.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">In the end 2 sisters won the rockets which they were having alot of fun with even before they took them home and 2 very avid readers got the robots. They were not in attendance to receive their prize so I hope they like them. There was one little boy in the Kindergarten group who really, really wanted to win a rocket. He worked so hard trying to read enough minutes to try and win the rocket but it was a close race and he just missed out. His Mum said that if he didnt win a rocket that maybe I would make one for him. Well of course I will. He has told me that he would like it to be orange and blue which I think is an excellent choice. It looks like I have some more rocket knitting to do but I know it will be going to someone who will really appreciate it. </span></span><br />

<span style="color: #990000;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I recently got a request on Etsy to make 10 monsters in about a week in the wonderful Corbin pattern designed by Dangercrafts. I was up for the challenge and the marathon knitting began. I just had to take a picture of them all together before mailing them off. One Corbin Monster is cute but 10 of them sitting together is even cuter. </span></span><br />

<br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I have finally listed something new in my Etsy store. This little shawl has been waiting for its debut for quite a while. I dont do it often but I love to knit lace as its so much fun to see the pattern come together and reveal the prettiness when its all finished. </span></span> <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgr8_1xzIpXRMjspMKzC5ILpvqdrc_1Zk-SfNL1CdS51ipX6qGJ6vJ06QvzPjVCkKEJAjTsiZnHiBAtnv1_mKXPOaYbLWEZrZ1sVJAXfCtOFVv7aO8EuN_WCmN7WQu7zzF7QthdUvBj_ejS/s1600/blueshawl3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgr8_1xzIpXRMjspMKzC5ILpvqdrc_1Zk-SfNL1CdS51ipX6qGJ6vJ06QvzPjVCkKEJAjTsiZnHiBAtnv1_mKXPOaYbLWEZrZ1sVJAXfCtOFVv7aO8EuN_WCmN7WQu7zzF7QthdUvBj_ejS/s320/blueshawl3.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">This is a small shawl to just drape over your shoulders or you can wrap it around your neck as a cowl. </span></span> <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHjjJHm9uqLluzaA5Me2w55vFolRqtX3fbsu6gRaeSg1jYYNXJ2SAawNotVn0Zyk-F2mJimUOhvI52dSASO9QrHW6037xTkChqegRrs9AzyIX6aJryn0uX-3l7G8LdnASEV1O44S1ndT0j/s1600/blueshawl4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHjjJHm9uqLluzaA5Me2w55vFolRqtX3fbsu6gRaeSg1jYYNXJ2SAawNotVn0Zyk-F2mJimUOhvI52dSASO9QrHW6037xTkChqegRrs9AzyIX6aJryn0uX-3l7G8LdnASEV1O44S1ndT0j/s320/blueshawl4.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">It was knitted in a very soft 100% mercerized cotton yarn in the prettiest baby blue colour. The lace makes it light while still keeping the chill out. Something special to wear when its a little cool outside. </span></span> <br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Its been about a month since this happened but its still hard to believe. My baby has graduated from high school. We of course took a ton of photos but I thought I would pick just one for this blog post. </span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The world is now her oyster and plans are being made. It will be weird when we are buying school supplies for her sister and not for her. No more school sporting events or clubs to go to but the unknown can be exciting even if it is scary. As soon as we can get her there, she is off to her new school in Canada to study Photography. For someone who doesnt like the cold and snow she has managed to pick somewhere even colder and snowier than here to go to school. But she is my adventurous child who just jumps into life with both feet and enjoys the ride whatever it may be. I never thought about it before but I think that may come from me. </span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">So good luck and the big wide world will be extremely lucky to have you. </span></span><br />

<span style="color: #660000;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Doesnt she just look simply beautiful. I love her plan for the ring of flowers. <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">I recently got an order on Knitted For Ewe for some custom made socks. The customer picked the pattern and sent me yarn from their stash and I got set to work. I had never really made socks with this much detail but checked out the patterns and had confidence that I could do them. These socks were so much fun to make. They were challenging, kept my mind ticking and made me so proud to see the end result. I learned new techniques such as chart reading and knitting a cable pattern into the heel. I am so proud of the results I thought I would share them here. The socks in the first picture are called Cadence and you can find them for free on www.Knitty.com. I love shade of blue the customer picked for these. These socks are my kind of pattern. They look really technical and difficult but are actually really easy. The pattern was so easy to follow.</span></span> <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKpVe2UPDSxExdpWSH-Xak6dmv2N9FKRuoYj3ARBjg716TUUwwOTKPy92QmNajxb8D9aMD7HovXRzTSvhVW_F09Rs-cHXeNoJRKCgDudqsWAWKfXNCJFzhERKQM0Jzfq8JFZz_gevVCoLz/s1600/marilinda1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKpVe2UPDSxExdpWSH-Xak6dmv2N9FKRuoYj3ARBjg716TUUwwOTKPy92QmNajxb8D9aMD7HovXRzTSvhVW_F09Rs-cHXeNoJRKCgDudqsWAWKfXNCJFzhERKQM0Jzfq8JFZz_gevVCoLz/s320/marilinda1.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">These next socks are called Marilinda. This pattern was designed by Cookie A. It can be purchased via Ravelry. This was another pattern that looks really difficult but turned out to be pretty easy. These socks have the cable going all the way down into the heel. Very pretty and surprisingly simple to do. </span></span> <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgF-R7FjS3GsIRjNgeLaKYwNfPlAEVf17hZtm-OBq7209FkoLqfgk1OOD-GHVpnLkOdQ35WqcpkxU3RofWLp4ZU-CirEeMdzu570ETXhm_jgQT-NFC3uA5x2gFpjTgGyi2f3mKdWf2i-aVr/s1600/lohengrin1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgF-R7FjS3GsIRjNgeLaKYwNfPlAEVf17hZtm-OBq7209FkoLqfgk1OOD-GHVpnLkOdQ35WqcpkxU3RofWLp4ZU-CirEeMdzu570ETXhm_jgQT-NFC3uA5x2gFpjTgGyi2f3mKdWf2i-aVr/s320/lohengrin1.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">These last pair socks were my challenging pair. The pattern is called Lohengrin and was designed for free by Caoua Coffee. You can also this pattern on Ravelry. This is quite the cable pattern where every line is different and you are switching around one stitch at a time, knitting into the back of the stitch and remembering which cable stitch is which symbol. I feel very accomplished and proud that I made it through these. They took alot of concentration and look really cool once you finish them. </span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">I feel ready for any sock pattern that I attempt and know that I just have to take my time and I will figure things out and if I ever get stuck there are some wonderful knitters on Ravelry who will help you through anything you are stuck on.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;"> </span></span>Nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09409133943104327474noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2047056182884065121.post-10252097394430029582012-08-23T12:39:00.000-07:002012-08-23T12:39:24.210-07:00So Adorable And Funny!<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">We have been giving our house a much needed clean out in the past month. My girls have decided that they want to switch bedrooms so they had to clean out their rooms if they wanted to make the big switch. Megan to the small room downstairs and Victoria to the big loft room upstairs. </span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">In our cleaning out of things we have been strolling down memory lane as you do when you start going through things that have been buried in boxes for a long time. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">We found a letter that Megan made for Santa when she was 8 that was still sealed so of course we had to open it. Oh and what giggles we had. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">I am going to share it with you with all her spelling glory with it hehe.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">Dear Santa Claus,</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">Joe is already puting up the tree. I turned eight this year. The most thing I </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">want for Christmas is rolling runners. These are the other thing I want a life</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">size choclate moose and a city of all sorts of Barbie dolls and last but not least</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">a flying unicorn any age.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">I Love You Very Much</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">MERRY CHRISTMAS!</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">You'rs truly,</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">Megan Brown</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">p.s. Nail polish and Nail Polish remover and clothes</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">I am definitely saving this letter hehe. I dont remember what she got that year for Christmas but I dont think she got most of it. My Megan is turning 18 next month and the funny thing is she would probably still want the life size chocolate mousse, whatever that is hehe as long as its something chocolate and the nail polish and clothes are still being asked for. So even though your kids grow and change they are still pretty much the same.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #990000;">I hope you had a little giggle with this post. I think my favourite part is the flying unicorn any age hehehehehehe.</span></span><br />

<span style="color: #990000;">I just sent off a new batch of toys to Stoopher & Boots in New York city. I usually like to send at least 7 things at a time but I have been working on socks, socks, socks that I havent had time to do too many toys. This is quite the crew isnt it. </span> <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKdBoJhng0zk8A7F7a97uN8k_35h9bQzleYNTPpivE_UBbgk_lYWwkIz76VlP8Ksjw-mhB2MGNz8YstYvX1tzIYpv1Fgw7bjVbvInv-mWF7aedBm1kA07myaJt0d8lLFlIEaxOnUg4pnv5/s1600/IMG_0199.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKdBoJhng0zk8A7F7a97uN8k_35h9bQzleYNTPpivE_UBbgk_lYWwkIz76VlP8Ksjw-mhB2MGNz8YstYvX1tzIYpv1Fgw7bjVbvInv-mWF7aedBm1kA07myaJt0d8lLFlIEaxOnUg4pnv5/s320/IMG_0199.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="color: #990000;">I knitted this bunny once before in a chenille yarn that made him look like a velveteen rabbit. This bunny was knitted from a yarn called Bunny Soft. How could you not knit a bunny out of it? Victoria picked the colours. Of course she would pick blue as she is in love with blue. This yarn is so soft. My girls couldnt stop hugging him when he was all finished. I found out that once he arrived in New York yesterday and friend of Stoopher & Boots had to blog about him so now he is famous. Here is a link to the article which is so cute.</span><br />
<span style="color: #990000;"> </span><b><a href="http://stickyegg.com/2012/06/11/tall-tail/" style="color: #0b5394;">http://stickyegg.com/2012/06/11/tall-tail/</a></b><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="color: #990000;">Look at that poofy tail, so soft and fluffy like a real bunny. For the lining of the ears I used felt. The last one of these bunnies I used fabric. I think I much prefer the fabric as even those the ears in this picture are tamed and down once you start playing with him they tend to fold back and make him look as if he was stuck in a wind tunnel. Still cute but a little too stiff for my liking. Oh and this pattern was designed by one of my new favourite designers, Rabbit Hole Knits. I just love every one of her patterns.</span> <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLgpxOrsVE_TblLObB0V3xjvk4YQd0b-6BV4imeXBhSvLt9ZjyggeY2lP2G_Yr8e_Ieu0iNfFYFkWLumKjnymdkagSfyD3BQUslHvh-fe03yVXrgPu4bjn7uX7PKpiPAcaO4gBISgE_9n2/s1600/IMG_0203.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLgpxOrsVE_TblLObB0V3xjvk4YQd0b-6BV4imeXBhSvLt9ZjyggeY2lP2G_Yr8e_Ieu0iNfFYFkWLumKjnymdkagSfyD3BQUslHvh-fe03yVXrgPu4bjn7uX7PKpiPAcaO4gBISgE_9n2/s320/IMG_0203.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="color: #990000;">This bunny is another Rabbit Hole Knits designs. The amazing thing about this pattern is that this is pretty much all one piece. You just add the ears and the front paws. For this bunny I got a smooth yarn and a fluffy super soft yarn and held it together throughout. When I picked a needle size I went really small so this is a very strong, stable fabric. What is even better is the eyes are embroidered on so that he is safe for everyone. A funny story about this bunny is, the little 2 year old girl that I babysit wanted to hold him and when I gave him to her she was holding him like a real bunny. She put him on the ground and was waiting for him to start hopping. She very much thought he was real. </span> <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="color: #990000;">Dont you just love his little tail. I just love how he is knit all in one including his little tail.</span> <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-Fu-1YMZAWCRnxsCKVFDTMLUza_GsoZQLyb8no6UT_aH0SZ_p_dnH2tauDSygxajMN7zmS3Fzy2WGlmOQ_F2JtZ2Lo3aXv6yKMJSNiqvuH8qI6vphdVUgCiH75f57w2poM9_CBm0G5Q8e/s1600/IMG_0207.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-Fu-1YMZAWCRnxsCKVFDTMLUza_GsoZQLyb8no6UT_aH0SZ_p_dnH2tauDSygxajMN7zmS3Fzy2WGlmOQ_F2JtZ2Lo3aXv6yKMJSNiqvuH8qI6vphdVUgCiH75f57w2poM9_CBm0G5Q8e/s320/IMG_0207.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="color: #990000;">Here is another super cute monster designed by Danger Crafts another favourite designer. I have knit this monster before in pink. Its funny how these little critters can look so different just by changing the yarn. This one was made in a colourful baby yarn which makes him super soft. It was interesting to see how the striping changed once I got to the body. </span> <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkf2bmKj4GbJ4uamWFVC8yjL-F9QLGPc78mnYK7ftHMP_nSYJRU6oG4Bja1WfE7cp5K71Ynf8kWvcVmz_YhgNqEAJJ715Hz_ntT3DEx-4Br_o-EA_Y_aBzBaqK53CTe_EClB9o9QYTEgFp/s1600/IMG_0196.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkf2bmKj4GbJ4uamWFVC8yjL-F9QLGPc78mnYK7ftHMP_nSYJRU6oG4Bja1WfE7cp5K71Ynf8kWvcVmz_YhgNqEAJJ715Hz_ntT3DEx-4Br_o-EA_Y_aBzBaqK53CTe_EClB9o9QYTEgFp/s320/IMG_0196.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="color: #990000;">Last but not least is this little dinosaur. You dont really see to many pink dinosaurs around but I knew I just had to make one after Victoria and I read a super cute story that had this pink dinosaur all through it. He also has embroidered eyes which makes him safer and is just the right size for little hands. You never know, there could have been real pink dinosaurs.</span><br />

<span style="background-color: #660000;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #660000;">My Megan just had her prom on Saturday so I just had to show off the prettiness of it all. </span></span></span><br />

<br />
<span style="color: #660000;">Megan and her friend Ali decided to ask a boy that was a friend of theirs if he would be their date. So he was a lucky guy with two dates to the prom. He didnt care what he wore so the girls delighted in being able to pick out his outfit. They were quite proud of the results.</span> <br />

<span style="color: #990000;">I just listed this Sparkly Horse in my Etsy shop today. This horse reminds me of my Megan when she was little. Its pink, its sparkly, its a horse. All things that would have made her want to snatch it up and call it hers. </span> <br />

<span style="color: #990000;">I just know there are other little girls out there that are just like my Megan who would love a sparkly little horse. </span> <br />

<span style="color: #990000;">When deciding on the eyes I remembered when I was little and use to colour in all the eyes blue. I even went through a whole colouring book just colouring all the eyes in blue in every picture. I dont know what the fascination was but felt like this little horse needed blue eyes just like the old days. </span> <br />

I was approached a few months ago about knitting some crazy coloured socks for a new book that is coming out called Bobby's Socks by Nathaniel Sewell. The book is about a man's struggle to deal with sexual abuse he experienced as a child. It is based on a true story. In this story he speaks of wearing colourful socks that make you happy and he likes to draw these happy hearts. Once you read the book you really want a pair of your own Bobby's Socks. So there are a bunch of us Etsy knitters that are making Bobby's Socks with Happy Hearts so that once you have read this book you can own your very own. Everyone who is making these socks will be donating a portion from the sale to Bobby's Socks Foundation. I will be donating $10 for every pair of Bobby's Socks that I sell.<br /><br /></span></span><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKMvU4WmYgCu5l1GQQfsKiI3zaSq9bj-3CA8RaSpNrBfOoaLfWcVgb8UyWYhHZGYRVH3l77moaaDmUjQWpUSIsFGrKJZgZNakYTCImmfCqz6SvQPbBdXVIkb-d9yfBIEKn8IW4MfaGDnz4/s1600/bobbyssocks2.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKMvU4WmYgCu5l1GQQfsKiI3zaSq9bj-3CA8RaSpNrBfOoaLfWcVgb8UyWYhHZGYRVH3l77moaaDmUjQWpUSIsFGrKJZgZNakYTCImmfCqz6SvQPbBdXVIkb-d9yfBIEKn8IW4MfaGDnz4/s400/bobbyssocks2.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5706396995263463746" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="color: rgb(153, 0, 0);"><span style="font-family: georgia;">Each knitter who is participating is creating their own version of colourful Bobby's Socks. This is my version. I will be making pairs in different colour combinations. This is just my first colour combination to get started. They are made using a washable wool which makes the warm and convenient. Machine washable and socks are essential to me when making knitted socks.<br />Here is a link to my Etsy listing<a style="color: rgb(0, 0, 153); font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/92416964/bobbys-socks-custom-made-colorful-socks"><br /><span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 255);">http://www.etsy.com/listing/92416964/bobbys-socks-custom-made-colorful-socks</span></a><br style="color: rgb(51, 51, 255);"><br /></span></span><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEPjaYQv7IvclsEGN8nirgyIRjE054dpuAEUeniRv5nDfobBFdE5nGGM0SubNeiNYhbmKkwi_qW4Yt0v32a9AObeFDfxKvp98qA_WELgFY2Nhyphenhyphen2pYFqMK0L84G24S7Xzvhmr9aGltRlpmE/s1600/1328552499_bobbyssocks1.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEPjaYQv7IvclsEGN8nirgyIRjE054dpuAEUeniRv5nDfobBFdE5nGGM0SubNeiNYhbmKkwi_qW4Yt0v32a9AObeFDfxKvp98qA_WELgFY2Nhyphenhyphen2pYFqMK0L84G24S7Xzvhmr9aGltRlpmE/s400/1328552499_bobbyssocks1.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5706396896247179858" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="color: rgb(153, 0, 0);"><span style="font-family: georgia;">Now that you know all about Bobby's Socks I am hoping that it has peaked your interest and you would like to read this amazing story. I like to call her Jemima as she looks like a doll with that name from a tv show call Playschool that used to watch when I was little. I wish I had of had more time to take more detailed pictures of her. She is made all out of soft wool except for her dress which is super soft alpaca yarn. You cant see this in the photo but she even has on underwear. You can take the underwear and dress off easily so she is fun to dress up. The hair took so long to get it the way I wanted it. To make it wavy I cut the strips of yarn and pulled apart the fibers which come apart wavy from being twisted. I hope Jemima goes to a home where she is loved.<br /><br /></span></span><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRFAw2fhBX4d_9gLmmq5til4YxHulHyWm-tRcqxpincwrpPx06rUrE0H5_5CpChTQE7nRsTaMtwrxq0JauBM5gLi1bhRV0MrCU3j-JGEPHxwzGN-ufhT50Uypipf14Cl8TpBJpYSRlMFTh/s1600/ny7.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRFAw2fhBX4d_9gLmmq5til4YxHulHyWm-tRcqxpincwrpPx06rUrE0H5_5CpChTQE7nRsTaMtwrxq0JauBM5gLi1bhRV0MrCU3j-JGEPHxwzGN-ufhT50Uypipf14Cl8TpBJpYSRlMFTh/s400/ny7.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5696763918793056386" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="color: rgb(102, 0, 0);"><span style="font-family: georgia;">This poor little owl sat around for a long time waiting to be finished. WooooHoooooo!!!!!!!!!!<br /><br />I have been wanting to be on the front page for a very long time. Yesterday I saw that one of my felted bags was in a treasury. A very pretty treasury. I logged into my shop this morning to discover a big jump in views and favourites and found out the treasury had been put on the front page.<br /><br />Here is the treasury that I am speaking of.<br /><br /><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 153);">http://www.etsy.com/treasury/MTU1NTkyOTh8MTU1NzI0NDIzNg/team-t-t-my-team-favorites</span><br /><br />It makes me want to get some new stuff made pronto to add to the shop but I know that is probably not going to happen this week. I am knee deep in trying to finish handmade Christmas presents. I am attempting my first ever quilt. It is really close to being finished. Megan is home with a cold today so I cant work on it until tonight because its for her. I am attempting to make as many Adventure Time characters as I can for Victoria. I am on my second one with the other two I could get done before Christmas just waiting to get started. I am also finishing off a hat and have an order for a duck that needs to be done soon. So many things and so little time. I also need to get the house ready for all the visitors on Christmas Eve. This is why I keep telling the children to stop telling me how many days until Christmas because I am not ready yet.<br /><br />But anyway, I was on the front page of Etsy WOOOOHOOOO!!!<br /><br /><br /></span></span>Nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09409133943104327474noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2047056182884065121.post-44782855609936600002011-12-01T13:57:00.001-08:002011-12-01T14:07:51.109-08:00Tiny Pigs And A Blue Elephant<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIz2pu1gYqlgMTBugcXTIW0IkjR1OtZcvoGLWyuneVN0M1pbftaNrIHpS4kC3dSonv9M0SR8guI15xPmPusNYSY50kILe6ST5-SibqGvd2LY3XiAKo-UFIL2Ct6-0Z_bhKRV7lb7_AaH8/s1600/tinypinkpgs4.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIz2pu1gYqlgMTBugcXTIW0IkjR1OtZcvoGLWyuneVN0M1pbftaNrIHpS4kC3dSonv9M0SR8guI15xPmPusNYSY50kILe6ST5-SibqGvd2LY3XiAKo-UFIL2Ct6-0Z_bhKRV7lb7_AaH8/s400/tinypinkpgs4.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5681283046961672370" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="color: rgb(102, 0, 0);"><span style="font-family: georgia;">I just sold these pigs in my Etsy shop the other day. Tell us a bit about yourself.</span> <span style=" color: rgb(102, 0, 0);font-family:georgia;" > </span> <span style=" color: rgb(102, 0, 0);font-family:georgia;" ><br /><br />When I was 8, I fell hopelessly in love with Poppin’ Fresh, the mascot for Pillsbury. I wished that he was real so I could take him with me to school and poke his tummy and snuggle with him at bedtime. I grew up in a big family, and we never had much money, but we made up for it with creativity. I decided to make my own Pillsbury Doughboy, and raided my mom’s sewing room for scraps. I had never sewn anything before, so I guess it just came naturally to me. I figured out how to fashion the traditional baker’s cap Poppin’ Fresh wears even though I’m not very good at math. Which shows that if you want something badly enough, like your own bashful hunk of talking dough in a bandanna, you CAN be good at math.</span><br /><br /><span style=" color: rgb(102, 0, 0);font-family:georgia;" >After I proved to myself that I could make a Doughboy without instructions, I figured the sky was the limit and I kept on going. I made puppets, Halloween costumes, doll clothes, clothes for myself. At art school, studying illustration, I incorporated sewing into a lot of my assignments with soft sculpture, trapunto, and literally “sewn” drawings.</span><br /><br /><span style=" color: rgb(102, 0, 0);font-family:georgia;" >Sewing a drawing takes a lot more time than using a brush or pencil, but it just felt right to me. It was my medium. I was aware of the anti-craft sentiment that existed at the time, though—this was the dawning of the computer graphics age, and traditional methods were unhip. I studied fabric design and silkscreening, and felt most drawn to those classes, but couldn’t see how I’d be able to make a living. After college, I worked as a graphic designer for years, trading my art supplies for software. I’m not sorry about it at all, because technology figures in to a lot of what I do now even though I’ve gone back to my sewing machine and printing press.</span> <span style=" color: rgb(102, 0, 0);font-family:georgia;" > </span> <span style=" color: rgb(102, 0, 0);font-family:georgia;" > </span> <span style=" color: rgb(102, 0, 0);font-family:georgia;" > </span> <span style=" color: rgb(102, 0, 0);font-family:georgia;" > </span> <span style=" color: rgb(102, 0, 0);font-family:georgia;" > <br /><br />2. Last summer I decided to take my camera along to the county fair, because I’d really enjoyed the chickens I saw the previous year. I had no clear plan at that point. The next thing I knew, I was silkscreening roosters onto linen. It just seemed like the right idea. I started with pillows and wasn’t sure what else I could do with my prints. Then I came across a collection of vintage flash cards in the attic, and thought the baby animals on them would make cute designs for baby clothes. I love early 20th century illustration because it was still done all by hand; typography in particular was drawn by hand, and it’s very beautiful to me.</span><br /><br /><span style=" color: rgb(102, 0, 0);font-family:georgia;" >After “retiring” from NYC, I was vaguely searching for some way to get back into sewing and handcrafted art, and found Kari Chapin’s great book, “Handmade Marketplace”. That’s how I discovered Etsy. It sounded almost too good to be true. I wasn’t aware that the craft movement had taken off the way it had. I still find it hard to believe that so many people actually care about handmade things. For me, it really says something profound and hopeful about humanity, especially since Etsy is global. I feel a connection to Etsy people that is rare for me in my daily life.</span> <span style=" color: rgb(102, 0, 0);font-family:georgia;" > </span> <br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRGAtg7dxGpYoM-wmT_A6x3x9r_4dgyCLIvwaHGt3CodykqfNg4En08rEuK7KONdkr77JWH8LyS5yBNDmCJjy7HBwJZ1s2u8kI-lwE0sTDnU_6aLdR23N_lCNo3b58zu6yPXerdB8GF_I/s1600/pluckykid3.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRGAtg7dxGpYoM-wmT_A6x3x9r_4dgyCLIvwaHGt3CodykqfNg4En08rEuK7KONdkr77JWH8LyS5yBNDmCJjy7HBwJZ1s2u8kI-lwE0sTDnU_6aLdR23N_lCNo3b58zu6yPXerdB8GF_I/s400/pluckykid3.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5660731372610853634" border="0" /></a><br /><span style=" color: rgb(102, 0, 0);font-family:georgia;" >3. I showed the goat to my husband, saying I wanted to silkscreen it onto something, maybe for kids, since baby goats are called “kids”, and he said, “You could call it Plucky Kid.” The name sums up the spirit of what I’m doing, which is hanging in there and persevering until it starts to feel right, and staying young at heart. (There’s a joke in there somewhere.)</span><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJtqHzXF-XcdieCur7HN-39ScSSXhR7b06AM69gLWGA82rDyCHwrAoajKAtEN_VKmanE4PMZuZixKa93xuF0rPyGAMHe44bqGQQO6giHS_-IeW6OfzOre4AJTiEHDe0C3yhsGlQ2E43Dw/s1600/pluckykid2.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJtqHzXF-XcdieCur7HN-39ScSSXhR7b06AM69gLWGA82rDyCHwrAoajKAtEN_VKmanE4PMZuZixKa93xuF0rPyGAMHe44bqGQQO6giHS_-IeW6OfzOre4AJTiEHDe0C3yhsGlQ2E43Dw/s400/pluckykid2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5660731021467570626" border="0" /></a><br /><span style=" color: rgb(102, 0, 0);font-family:georgia;" >9. Its been a while since I have had one and I think this was a great shop to interview and get back into the swing of it. Actually finding this shop not long ago inspired me to get back to doing features. I just had to share this shop and show off my discovery. I just looooooove this shop. I love everything in it but my absolute favourite has be to the Mason bag. Whenever there is a new one I cant decide which one I like better. I love the natural fabrics and the vintage look of the silkscreened pictures and the colours that are used all just work together. Check out this shop and see if you love it as much as I do.<br /><br /></span></span>Nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09409133943104327474noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2047056182884065121.post-86895027727828181412011-09-29T08:08:00.001-07:002011-09-29T08:29:35.505-07:00My Baby Is 17!!!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6oV2UEAES35_5U9xs_mrPLBHiRQdARne_TFbkZvdGRUXmtGYG45i3Z6t7Bn-ndtmffDfWt0-iiH5R1nmp8DRrK9HQL7dJclQI5mwZZTDKw-RpfpXyTE6JjpVMYlfsX65-Og7sRf9-xHk/s1600/IMG_5940.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6oV2UEAES35_5U9xs_mrPLBHiRQdARne_TFbkZvdGRUXmtGYG45i3Z6t7Bn-ndtmffDfWt0-iiH5R1nmp8DRrK9HQL7dJclQI5mwZZTDKw-RpfpXyTE6JjpVMYlfsX65-Og7sRf9-xHk/s400/IMG_5940.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5657803104089724850" border="0" /></a><span style="color: rgb(102, 0, 0);"><span style="font-family:georgia;"><br />17 years ago I met the most amazing, beautiful and special person and my life has never been the same again.
